The most effective way to help people hit by the August 10 earthquake is to send money — not clothes or food parcels — through official channels. Everything listed here has been checked against official sources and carries the date it was checked. This site never receives money. Every button takes you straight to the official channel.

From abroad

Giving from the US or Spain

  • The Colombian Red Cross's online donation accepts international cards; your bank may add a small FX fee. It is still the fastest way to get money on the ground.
  • Be careful with GoFundMe. Only give to organizers you personally know — unverified personal fundraisers currently outrank official channels in English-language search results.
  • Don't ship goods internationally. Freight costs more than the contents and slows relief down; cash arrives in minutes.
Official registry

Lost your home, or have family affected?

The official registry for affected residents is sospereira.com (Pereira City Hall).

⚠️ Registering is free. Nobody can charge you to register or guarantee you aid. If someone tries, report it to the city.

Warning

Before you give: what not to do

  • Don't ship clothes, food or boxes from abroad. Freight costs more than the contents and clogs the relief pipeline. Money arrives in minutes and turns into whatever is actually needed.
  • Don't transfer to accounts forwarded through WhatsApp chains — not even screenshots of this page. Always confirm on the entity's own official page. Colombia's National Police has confirmed active scams using fake accounts, invented Bre-B keys and malicious QR codes.
  • Distrust anonymous fundraisers. No real names, no legal entity, no accountability: don't give.
  • Don't pay middlemen to process government aid. It is free — and charging for census visits is also a scam.
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

+Is Cruz Roja Colombiana legitimate?

Yes. It is Colombia's national Red Cross society (NIT 899.999.025-3) and the channel through which Pereira's municipal aid flows. Verify any account number on their official site — this site deliberately publishes links, never account numbers.

+What is the Colombian Red Cross's official account for the earthquake?

Account details are published only on the Red Cross's own official page. We deliberately never reproduce account numbers: a copied number can go stale or be tampered with; the official link cannot. Always check there before transferring.

+Can I donate from Spain or the United States?

Yes. Online card donations on the official Red Cross site work from any country. Your bank may add a small FX fee — it is still the fastest route.

+How do I know a fundraiser is real?

Four signals, all required: a legal entity with a tax ID (NIT), real names of the people responsible, the channel published on the entity's own official domain, and public reporting on the money. If one is missing, don't give.

+Is it worth shipping clothes or food from abroad?

No. International freight costs more than the contents and clogs logistics on the ground. Send money.

+How does someone affected register in Pereira?

At sospereira.com, free of charge.
